3rd day’s inauguration
To continue with the league matches, 3rd day’s matches were inaugurated at the hands of a renowned Advocate Shriniwas Deshpande at Subhedar Hall Premises on 13th December 08.
A keen social worker and legal advisor had also represented Nagpur University in Cricket and Football Championships. He persuaded the participants to take the tournament with the true sportsmanship and wished them all the best for their future endeavours.
The matches are going on at the Subhedar Hall in their respective categories and results are awaited.

2nd day’s league matches
Miss Kalpana Jadhav, H.O.D. (Sports), Hislop College, Nagpur, inaugurated 2nd day’s league matches. She is the recipient of Nagpur University Hockey Colour and a renowned football player. She motivated the participants to show the true sportsman spirit and give their best to be the winners of this reputed tournament.
Around 60 different schools will be participating in today’s matches (12-12-08).

CBSE NATIONALS INAUGURATED AMIDST FANFARE
The fourth CBSE International Championship, a 4 days extravaganza was inaugurated in a spectacular show at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College Ground. Mr. Banwarilal Purohit, an eminent social worker, leader and ex. MLA, Chairperson Bhavans Schools inaugurated and presided over the function. Ms. Chitralekha Gurumurthy, Director Academics CBSE & Mr. Pushkar Vohra, AEO Sports CBSE New Delhi were the guests of honour.
The programme commenced with a wonderful rendering of Sarvadharma Prarthna was followed by unfurling of CBSE flag by the chief guest.
Mr. Purohit accompanied by Ms. Gurumurthy and Mr. Vohra took the guard of honour. Each zone was headed by a couple in traditional attire that exhibited the rich cultural heritage of India. Mr. Madhusudan Chansarkar, the Ex Vice Chancellor of Nagpur University, felicitated the guests.
Wonderful display of Lezim, Aerobics, Bhartiyam enthralled the spectators. Bhartiyam was presented by St. Xavier’s High School, MIDC with Ghoongru Kathi, rings, pompoms, sticks etc with message of universal peace and brotherhood.
Mr. Banwarilal Purohit congratulated the Principals and the organisers for the magnanimous show and formally announced the opening of the CBSE Nationals.
Mrs. Gurumurthy highlighted the importance of participation in various competitions by the students. She encouraged every participants by praising the hidden talents in each and everyone.
Mrs. P. Rajalakshmi the Principal of St. Xavier’s High School, MIDC Hingna, proposed a vote of thanks.
The programme concluded with the National Song.

For the first time, the orange city is jointly organising the fourth CBSE National Championship from Dec 11 to Dec 14, 2008.
St. Xavier’s High School, Hingna Road is conducting badminton, whereas BVM, Civil Lines will host Tennis, while Modern School Koradi will conduct Basketball Tournament and Narayana Vidyalayam will host Chess Tournament.
Around 2200 students not only from India but also from Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UAE will participate in the events. The National Competition will be held at Subhedar Hall, Amravati Road and 72 schools will participate in the event.
The mega event was inaugurated at the hands of C. D. Deoras, a renowned former International Badminton Champion at Subhedar Hall premises, Nagpur on 11th Dec 2008. He represented the country in various championships and emerged as a winner of ‘National Doubles’ along with the winner of Thomas Cup for many years.
His presence at the Venue enthrilled the participants as he played some shots to start the ceremony.
